Mexican arrested in America, was spying for Russia

US intelligence officials have identified Russia as a spy threat to their country. An investigation by special counsel Robert Muller last year found that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election — a notion that President Donald Trump has repeatedly rejected. According to court documents cited in a US Department of Justice news release, a Russian government official recruited Furantes last year and said he should rent a specific property in Miami-Dad County, not using his name.

Court documents state that Phuntes travelled from Mexico City to Miami last week and reached his target’s residence, where a security guard stopped him, but his partner pulled a picture of a license plate.
