Know which disease occurs next to ‘N’ and what kind of disease it is?

One name that has come up in front of the whole world is “COVID-19”. The world is in awe at this time. Learn this disease and all information related to it .

Shakespeare had said, ‘What is there in the name?’, But the name has great importance. For this reason, storms and deadly diseases that bring destruction to the earth are also named. The peculiar names of sea storms often come before us, but this time one name has come to the whole world ‘COVID-19’. The world is in awe at this time.

More than 1100 people have officially become victims of the disease, while thousands of people have been infected and in the world’s second-largest economy, the slowdown has come due to the disease. You are thinking right, we are talking about the novel coronavirus, which will be written as COVID-19 and nCoV-19 for short. There will definitely be a question in your mind as to why and how a disease is given a name.

Before the formation of the United Nations, the same disease was known by different names in the world, due to which many times there was confusion. This problem was diagnosed by the World Health Organization (WHO). It is now the responsibility of the WHO to give a name to a new disease so that all research institutes and hospitals meet a standard. It also helps a lot in treatment.

WHO suddenly gives no name to a disease. There is a lot of practice behind it. The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) is a division of the global organization. Its job is to give some name to a disease. For this work, the first obtains important information from the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Both organizations tell the ICD whether there is any disease in animals or plants with similar symptoms. If found, what are the reasons for that? Means if the same type of disease is found to be the same, then it is known by the old name and if there is a new cause, then the disease gets a new name.

What is COVID-19?
Decode COVID-19, then CO means corona, VI means virus and has been used for disease. 19 has been used for the year 2019. Doctors can also prescribe nCoV-19. Here N means Novel, CO means corona and V has been used for viruses.

Caution required
ICD is very cautious in naming a disease. According to the WHO standard, the name of a disease should not hurt the feelings of any religion, race, country and region. Also, a country, race, region responsible for a disease cannot be named for the disease.

‘N’ makes disease fatal
When the word ‘N’ is written in front of the name of a disease, then understand that the disease is fatal and it is difficult for doctors to treat it. N is written for the word Novel. The term Novel is used when there is no pathological record of a disease and its entire algorithm is new, meaning researchers have to understand the disease from the very beginning. In 2015, there was controversy over the names of swine flu and Middle-East Respiratory Syndrome, with the WHO believing the names were negative.
